I’m Katie Roebuck. I’m the Fundraiser and it’s my role to raise funds for the MS Support Centre.
It currently costs over £200,000 a year to run the MS Support Centre – more than £4,000 a week. For that £4,000 we’re able to deliver a broad and diverse range of therapies and support services to people with MS and their Carers, and that £4,000 means we can make a real difference to the lives of the people that we support ensuring that symptoms are managed in ways that reduce demand on the services of the NHS.
The MS Support Centre receives no automatic statutory funding, which means that to continue with our work we must raise funds from many different sources.
There are lots of ways that you can support us, some of which are outlined below, and you may have your own fundraising ideas too, so please do give me a call if you’d like to get involved.

Gift Aid
If you are a UK taxpayer, the MS Support Centre can reclaim tax under the Inland Revenue Gift Aid scheme. Using Gift Aid means that for every pound you give, the centre will get an extra 28 pence from the Inland Revenue. For example, a gift of £10 from a UK taxpayer will be turned into £12.80. Imagine what a difference that makes – and it doesn’t cost you a thing!
Shopping Sites – don’t forget to Shop Online and help raise funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Support Centre, Chester. It doesn't cost you a penny and could even save you money through buyer promotions!
View www.buy.at/ChesterMSSC and www.easyfundraising.org.uk/msscchester where you will find over 350 popular retailers participating, and for every purchase made we will receive up to 15%.
MS Challenge – last year we raised a fantastic £17,000 through the MS Challenge . If you’d like to enter a team into this year’s Challenge, which takes place on 3-5 July in Capel Curig, or if you’d like to sponsor a team, then please contact us for more information.
Volunteers – we’re looking for volunteers to help with planned supermarket collections and for your ideas about raising money to support people with MS.
If you are interested in helping us then please contact us – we’ll be glad to hear from you.
Leaving a Gift in your Will to the MS Support Centre
Have you thought about leaving a gift in your Will to the MS Support Centre? Charitable legacies are vital to the future of many small charities, including the MS Support Center.
Studies show that around 70% of the UK population donates to charities, but that fewer than 1 in 5 people leave a charitable legacy in their Will.
If you do wish to remember the MS Support Centre in your Will, it is vital to ensure that the money is actually received by us so that it can be used to secure the future of the Centre.
For this reason, we have teamed up with local Solicitors firm, Aaron and Partners, to provide a guide to leaving a gift to the MS Support Centre in your Will. You can find the guide here.

£45 could buy an oxygen therapy mask, giving people with MS access to concentrated oxygen and helping to relieve their symptoms.
£120 could cover the costs of a support worker for a day.
£500 would help us to buy valuable balance and mobility equipment to support the work of our physiotherapists.
£2500 could contribute to the costs of our programme of complementary therapies.
£4,000 would cover the costs of running the Centre for a week.
